Cram a Cruiser Drive in Strathcona County

Strathcona County residents are gearing up for a community-driven initiative to aid those in need.

The Cram a Cruiser event encourages locals to fill police vehicles with essential donations for the Strathcona Food Bank.

Scheduled for Thursday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the drive showcases the region's generous spirit.

RCMP officers and enforcement teams will be at major grocery locations, collecting contributions from shoppers.

Past events have gathered thousands of pounds of food and significant cash donations, demonstrating strong community support.

Organizers highlight how these efforts combat rising food insecurity, with the food bank serving over 24,000 people last year through thousands of hampers.

This comes amid construction of a new expanded facility to enhance services.

Recent fundraisers, including summer drives and galas, have further bolstered resources.

Priority items include canned fruits, pasta sauces, soups, hygiene products, baby supplies, and pet food.

All donations remain local, benefiting Sherwood Park and nearby areas.

Collection points are at stores along Baseline Road and adjacent spots.

Participate to create a real impact for families facing challenges.

Such events underscore the kindness and resilience of Alberta's communities.

The Strathcona County Museum & Archives has renamed its Indigenous Peoples Gallery to “Touches the Earth, Echoing Sky Lodge”, a title bestowed by local Elders during a special ceremony.

This name honors the enduring bond between land, sky, and spirit found at the heart of Indigenous cultures.

On September 20, 2025, the museum became a bustling marketplace for Edmonton-area Indigenous artists, who offered handcrafted beadwork, bone earrings, and dreamcatchers, each piece imbued with personal narrative.

Visitors explored the refreshed gallery, admiring a striking stained glass installation and a vivid mural by artist and city councillor Aaron Paquette.

Future plans include regularly rotating artwork to spotlight diverse Indigenous talent.

Artists such as Jane Ester Henderson and Liv Smreciu emphasized the power of representation and community engagement in the art space.

Beading remained a highlight, with Victoria Pearl Silva advocating for these events as bridges of understanding and kinship across cultures.

The celebration marks the museum’s dedication to uplifting Indigenous heritage and voices.

Flint may not have his high school diploma after dropping out and hilariously failing Biology 30, but he more than makes up for it with charm and personality.

This quirky kitten often tries to nurse from the resident adult male cat at his foster home, keeping everyone entertained with his antics.

Flint’s got it all — stunning looks, plush fur, and gleaming eyes, wrapped in a playful attitude and a soft heart.

He struts around carrying a toy, growling at other kittens to show off his tough side, but turns into a cuddly marshmallow when he’s in the mood for affection.

Resembling his foster sibling Smokey, Flint and his buddy make an adorable pair.

If you want a beautiful, spirited kitten, consider giving Flint — solo or with a sibling — a forever home.
