New on-demand transit service launches June 22, 2026 for Cambrian and Hearthstone neighborhoods |
Sherwood Park's transit landscape is set for a significant transformation starting June 22, 2026.
Residents of the Cambrian and Hearthstone neighborhoods will, for the first time, have access to on-demand transit services during peak hours.
This initiative aims to enhance connectivity and cater to the growing transportation needs of these communities.
The Cambrian Peak Hour On-Demand service will operate Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Riders can book trips within Cambrian and Hearthstone, as well as to key hubs like Emerald Hills and the Bethel Transit Terminal.
From Bethel, passengers can transfer to routes spanning Sherwood Park and into Edmonton.
To utilize this service, bookings must be made via the Strathcona Transit App at least 30 minutes prior to the desired travel time.
Booking opens at 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., ensuring timely pickups for commuters.
In addition to introducing new services, transit frequency in Emerald Hills will see improvements.
By adjusting the schedules of routes 430 and 431, buses will now depart every 15 minutes during peak times.
Specifically, Route 430 will depart the terminal at :00 and :30 minutes, while Route 431 maintains its usual schedule.
These changes aim to provide more consistent and reliable service for residents.
It's essential for riders to stay updated, as transit schedules undergo periodic adjustments.
Updated ride guides and schedules will be available at the Bethel Transit Terminal and online by mid-June.
