Strathcona County Celebrates Seniors Week

with Community Events

Join Strathcona County from June 1-7, 2026, to celebrate Seniors Week with events in Sherwood Park honoring the contributions of older adults.

From June 1 to 7, 2026, Strathcona County will honor the invaluable contributions of older adults during Seniors' Week.

This annual celebration highlights the dedication and wisdom that seniors bring to our community.

Mayor Rod Frank emphasized the significance of this occasion, stating, "Seniors' Week is a time to recognize the people behind our engaged, active, and inviting community. We are grateful for their knowledge, perspective, and dedication to shaping a strong future for Strathcona County."

To kick off the festivities, Strathcona County and WESeniors Strathcona are hosting a free Seniors' Week Celebration on Monday, June 1.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m., with activities running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Centre Agora, located at 401 Festival Lane in Sherwood Park.

This event is open to all older adults in the community.

Rural transportation will be available from Ardrossan, Josephburg, and South Cooking Lake, with specific departure details provided upon registration.

Registration closes on May 29.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of engaging activities, including a guest presentation by Haidong Liang, Executive Director of WESeniors, live music from the Live Music Circle, outdoor games, a complimentary BBQ, door prizes, and informational booths.

For more information and to register, visit the official Strathcona County website.

In addition to the kickoff event, the community is invited to participate in other local happenings during Seniors' Week.

On June 7, the Summer Music Series in Sherwood Gardens will feature a free performance by Glenn Schwartz and Chris Youngston from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy an evening of live music in a beautiful setting.

Additionally, on June 9, the Seniors Connect Spring High Tea will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the Sherwood Park Alliance Church.

This event offers an opportunity for seniors to connect over tea and refreshments.

These events underscore the community's commitment to celebrating and supporting its senior residents.

By participating in Seniors' Week, residents can show appreciation for the vital roles that older adults play in enriching the social fabric of Strathcona County.
