Alberta Highway Signs Updates in Sherwood Park Alberta |
Exploring the Welcome to Alberta signs and Alberta sign replacement initiatives |
The province is embarking on a significant overhaul of its highway signage, introducing new 'Welcome to Alberta' signs that will be shaped like the province itself.
These updated signs are set to replace the existing ones, some of which have stood for nearly four decades.
The current signs display the phrase 'Welcome to Alberta' with the subtitle 'Wild Rose Country' beneath.
However, the new designs are expected to feature Alberta's official motto, 'Strong and Free,' aligning with recent changes to the province's license plates.
Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen emphasized the importance of these signs, stating, "These signs are public. They're for Albertans, and we want to make sure that everybody feels welcome coming into the province."
The new signs will be approximately five meters tall and three meters wide, mounted on elevated pedestals to deter vandalism.
Optional features like solar-powered lighting are also being considered.
Installation is scheduled to begin in the summer and continue through the fall.
In Sherwood Park, residents can anticipate these new signs enhancing the entrances to their community, reflecting Alberta's evolving identity and commitment to welcoming visitors.
As the province moves forward with these updates, the familiar 'Wild Rose Country' slogan will be retired, marking a new chapter in Alberta's visual landscape.
These changes aim to create a cohesive and modern image that resonates with both residents and visitors alike. |
