RCMP Seize Large Quantities of Illicit Substances and Cash in Coordinated Operation |
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Strathcona County RCMP Drug Unit executed a major operation in Sherwood Park and Edmonton, resulting in substantial seizures and multiple charges.
In early October 2025, the RCMP initiated an investigation targeting a suspected drug trafficker operating within the Sherwood Park and Edmonton regions.
On October 23, 2025, with assistance from the Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit and the St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit, officers executed search warrants at residences in both Sherwood Park and southwest Edmonton.
The search of the southwest Edmonton residence yielded approximately 1.6 kilograms of methamphetamine, 905 grams of cocaine, 552 grams of MDMA, 863 grams of ketamine, and over $20,000 in Canadian currency.
At the Sherwood Park residence, authorities seized a small quantity of steroids, user amounts of methamphetamine, and over $47,000 in Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, three individuals have been charged:
Michael Shaune St. Martin, 42, of Sherwood Park, faces charges of possession of proceeds over $5,000.
Matthew Petrollini, 44, and Tara Trudeau, 50, both residents of Edmonton, have been charged with possession of proceeds over $5,000 and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
All three individuals have been released on an undertaking with conditions and are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park on January 21, 2026.
Inspector Kevin Peterson, Officer in Charge of Operations for the Strathcona County RCMP, emphasized the impact of this operation, stating, "This enforcement action directly reduces the supply of illegal drugs in our community and disrupts criminal networks that profit from harm."
He further noted that such drugs are often linked to overdoses, property crime, violence, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
By removing these substances from circulation, the RCMP aims to prevent further harm and enhance community safety.
This operation underscores the RCMP's commitment to targeting individuals who pose significant risks to public safety and highlights the effectiveness of coordinated efforts among various RCMP units.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to local authorities to assist in maintaining the safety and well-being of the community. |
