Project TENSOR East Returns to Strathcona County This Month

Data-driven traffic safety initiative targets speeding, stunting, and noise complaints

Strathcona County residents can expect to see increased traffic enforcement as Project TENSOR (Traffic Enforcement Noise/Speed Offence Reduction) East returns this month. The popular data-driven traffic safety initiative, first introduced in 2021, will once again target local hot spots for traffic violations throughout the summer months.

What is Project TENSOR?

Project TENSOR is a strategic traffic enforcement program that uses data analysis to identify high-risk areas for:

  • Speeding - Excessive speed in residential and high-traffic areas
  • Stunting - Dangerous driving behaviors and street racing
  • Noise complaints - Excessive vehicle noise disturbing community peace

How It Works

The initiative takes a data-driven approach, analyzing traffic patterns, complaint data, and collision statistics to pinpoint specific locations where enforcement will have the greatest impact. This targeted method allows RCMP and bylaw officers to focus their efforts where they're needed most.

Community Benefits

Since its introduction in 2021, Project TENSOR has helped:

  • Reduce dangerous driving behaviors in problem areas
  • Decrease traffic-related noise complaints from residents
  • Improve overall road safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians
  • Create a more peaceful community environment

What to Expect

Throughout the summer months, residents will notice:

  • Increased RCMP and bylaw presence in targeted areas
  • Enhanced enforcement of traffic laws
  • Potential checkpoints in high-risk zones
  • Ongoing monitoring of noise complaints

Stay Informed

Strathcona County encourages residents to report traffic concerns and noise complaints through official channels. Your input helps shape future enforcement efforts and ensures resources are directed to the areas that need them most.
