Ardrossan Crowned Best Community in Metro Edmonton Area

Ardrossan has been honored as the best community in the greater Edmonton area, clinching top accolades at the 2026 BILD Edmonton Metro Awards of Excellence.

The Strathcona County hamlet outshone notable contenders such as Chapelle Gardens, Edgemont, The Orchards by Brookfield Residential, and Sherwood Park's Cambrian by Rohit Group.

For Strata Development, the driving force behind Ardrossan's recent expansion and the innovative "Kingdom of Ardrossan" campaign, this recognition validates their long-held belief in the community's unique appeal.

Andrew Usenik, a partner at Strata Development, expressed that they've always recognized Ardrossan's special qualities, with their primary challenge being the community's relative obscurity.

Strata Development has spearheaded the planning and development of new housing in the area.

Usenik highlighted that a commitment to a broader vision, including larger lots and a diverse mix of housing options, set Ardrossan apart from other suburban developments.

While many new suburban communities focus exclusively on entry-level and first-time home buying options, Ardrossan offers a variety of housing products, including bigger lots and bigger houses.

This approach may mean slower growth initially, but it helped create a more diverse and established community that has now been recognized as the best in the metro Edmonton area.

Recent developments in Ardrossan include the approval of nearly 90 new homes on 15 hectares, featuring a mix of duplexes, single-family homes, and executive lots—the largest single-family lots developed by Strata Developments.

Construction is set to begin this spring, with home building starting in 2026.

The community also boasts a new commercial development adjacent to the Recreation Center, housing businesses such as Ardrossan Pizza, A Step Ahead Childcare, Co-Operators Insurance, Ardrossan Veterinary Clinic, Tibb Pharmacy Clinic, Petro Canada, Subway Restaurant, A&W Restaurant, and Ardrossan Liquor.

These additions enhance the community's amenities, making Ardrossan an even more attractive place to live.

With a build-out population projected around 6,000 residents, Ardrossan's growth reflects a commitment to creating a vibrant, diverse, and well-serviced community.

Its recent accolades underscore the success of this vision, positioning Ardrossan as a premier destination within the Edmonton metropolitan area.
