Former Wye Road Safeway Gets New Life

Sherwood Park residents wondering what is happening at the former Safeway location at Village Market finally have some answers.

The former grocery store is undergoing a major redevelopment, with the space being renovated and divided for new tenants.

Current leasing information from property owner First Capital identifies Evolve Strength, a fitness and training facility, and CEFA Early Learning as incoming tenants.

CEFA has now taken another step forward, establishing its Sherwood Park – Sherwood Heights location and announcing that it is accepting applications for children ages 1–6, although an official opening date has not yet been announced.

Construction on the Village Market redevelopment remains underway. The project is valued at approximately $6.4 million.

No opening date has yet been announced for Evolve Strength either.

After months of speculation about the future of the former Safeway, the redevelopment is beginning to take shape — bringing both a new fitness facility and early-learning services to this familiar Wye Road shopping centre.
