The RCMP is warning Albertans to stay vigilant as phone and marketing scams surge across the province.

 

Common Scams to Watch For

 

• Spoofed calls - Fraudsters disguise their number to appear local or official

• Fraudulent telemarketers - Fake sales calls targeting unsuspecting residents

• Emergency scams - Callers claiming a family member is in trouble and needs money

 

Protect Yourself

 

• Never give personal information to unsolicited callers

• Verify claims independently before sending money

• Report suspicious calls to local police

• Register with the National Do Not Call List
