Salisbury Student Stitches Together National Victory

Kayla Klita wins second consecutive gold in Fashion Technology, heading to national competition in Toronto

Salisbury Composite High School student Kayla Klita has once again demonstrated her exceptional talent in fashion design by securing the gold medal in the Fashion Technology category at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition (PSCC) for the second consecutive year.

Competing against peers from across Alberta, Klita's meticulously crafted vest impressed the judges, earning her top honors.

Reflecting on her achievement, Klita shared, "It's really special to not only participate but to win gold for a second year in a row."

She admitted that the pressure was higher this year due to her own expectations but expressed happiness over her repeat victory.

The PSCC is a prestigious event that challenges students in various trades, from robotics to baking.

Participants are tasked with completing projects that meet industry standards, which are then evaluated by a panel of experts.

Klita's consistent performance highlights her dedication and skill in the field of fashion technology.

Her success is particularly noteworthy given the absence of a dedicated fashion program at Salisbury Composite High School.

Klita attributes her achievements to the unwavering support of her teachers and the school's administration.

Looking ahead, Klita is set to represent Team Alberta at the 2026 Skills National Competition in Toronto from May 27-30.

This opportunity will allow her to showcase her talents on a national stage, further solidifying her reputation as a rising star in fashion design.

Her journey serves as an inspiration to fellow students, demonstrating that with passion and perseverance, remarkable accomplishments are within reach.
