Latest RCMP news and sherwood park crime reports |
In recent weeks, Sherwood Park has witnessed a series of stolen vehicle incidents, prompting the Strathcona County RCMP to intensify their efforts in combating auto-related crimes.
On February 12, 2026, around 9 a.m., officers identified a stolen vehicle parked near a local residence. As they prepared to approach, two individuals exited the house and entered the vehicle. A swift traffic stop ensued, leading to the arrest of both occupants. A 42-year-old Edmonton resident was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on March 4.
Just days earlier, on February 7, 2026, at approximately 7:40 a.m., the RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 21 near Township Road 534. The driver, found trapped inside the SUV, exhibited signs of impairment. Investigations revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Edmonton earlier that day, following an assault on a ride-share operator. A 22-year-old Edmonton man faces multiple charges, including robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, and impaired operation.
These incidents underscore the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing vehicle thefts in the region. The RCMP continues to urge residents to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and report any suspicious activities promptly. |
