Strathcona County is now accepting applications for its 2026 community grants and public art programs, inviting residents, community groups, and artists to contribute to the region's cultural and social vitality.
The Community Connection grants offer up to $400 to support neighborhood events that promote safety, social connections, and well-being. These grants have previously funded activities like block parties and street concerts, fostering a sense of community among residents.
For those aiming to drive positive social change, the Community Change grants provide up to $2,000 for projects that enhance community safety and well-being. Past initiatives include community gardens and emergency preparedness kits, reflecting the community's proactive spirit.
Artists are encouraged to participate in the Annual Art Acquisition Program, which seeks to enrich public spaces with diverse artworks. Eligible applicants include local residents, artists connected to the county, and equity-seeking artists residing on Treaty 6 Territory. Submissions are open until April 26, 2026.
Additionally, a call has been issued for a mural artist or team to design and paint a large-scale exterior mural at the Sherwood Heights Multi-Sport Park. This project aims to enhance the park's environment and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive sense of place. The submission deadline is June 4, 2026.
Residents and artists interested in these opportunities should visit the Strathcona County website for detailed guidelines, eligibility requirements, and application deadlines. The county encourages diverse proposals that reflect the unique character and needs of Sherwood Park and surrounding communities. |
