Strathcona County RCMP Set 2025 Policing Priorities with Community Input

Upcoming Town Halls to Discuss Focus Areas and Enhance Public Safety

Each year, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Enforcement Services in Strathcona County collaborate to establish policing and municipal enforcement priorities that reflect the community's concerns.

For 2025, the identified priorities are:

1. Family Violence and Persons Crime

2. Property Crime

3. Drug Enforcement

4. Traffic Safety and Impaired Driving

These focus areas were determined through community conversations, surveys, and analysis of crime trends and statistics.

By aligning their efforts with public input, the RCMP and Enforcement Services aim to enhance community safety, resilience, and overall well-being.

To further engage with residents and discuss these priorities, two town hall meetings are scheduled:

Sherwood Park

When: Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Presentation at 7 p.m., followed by a question period

Where: Community Centre, Agora, 401 Festival Lane, Sherwood Park

These sessions provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the 2025 priorities and engage directly with law enforcement officials.

In recent months, the RCMP has been actively addressing various community concerns.

Notably, in July 2025, there was a significant police presence in the Village Drive area of Sherwood Park due to an incident that was resolved without public risk.

Additionally, in August 2025, the RCMP responded to an armed individual in the detachment parking lot, leading to a police-involved shooting.

These events underscore the importance of the identified priorities and the need for ongoing community collaboration.

Residents are encouraged to attend the upcoming town halls to stay informed and contribute to the ongoing efforts to make Strathcona County a safe place to live, work, and play.
