Strathcona County RCMP to Host Annual Kids Bike Rodeo and Safety Fair |
Free community event set for May 9 at Strathcona Athletic Park |
Strathcona County RCMP are gearing up for their annual Kids Bike Rodeo and Safety Fair, a free community event designed to teach children essential cycling skills while building connections with local first responders.
The event, hosted in partnership with Strathcona County Enforcement Services, will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Strathcona Athletic Park, located at 1100 Cloverbar Road in Sherwood Park. It is open to children of all ages and their families.
According to organizers, the annual event focuses on bicycle safety education while providing a day of community fun. "Safety starts with small lessons that last a lifetime. When kids learn to ride safely, they gain confidence that carries far beyond the bike," the RCMP stated. Families attending can enjoy a variety of activities, including a bike obstacle course, cotton candy, popcorn, and face painting. Community partners will be on site with informational booths, and Enbridge will host a barbecue while supplies last.
A highlight of the event will be RCMP Police Dog Service demonstrations at noon and 2 p.m. on the track and field area. Bleachers will be available for spectators to watch these canine heroes in action.
The bike rodeo portion will take place in the outdoor rink and feature a bicycle inspection and helmet fitting station provided by Mud, Sweat and Gears. Children will also have the opportunity to test their riding abilities through a skills course led by members of the RCMP and Enforcement Services.
Mark your calendars for this fun-filled day of safety, community, and family entertainment. |
