Bladz Keeps Sherwood Park Skaters on the Edge |
A local skate-care business carries on a familiar arena-shop legacy |

Bladz Skate Shop has been part of Sherwood Park’s skating community since 2007, helping local players and recreational skaters care for their equipment.
Today, the business serves customers from its main shop at 105–26 Strathmoor Drive and an additional sharpening location at 2015 Oak Street, the Shell/Randy Rosen Arena.
The arena location, formerly known as Tom’s Spot, continues a familiar local service.
Bladz describes the move as an opportunity to carry on the legacy of Tom Cawson, with Ty Wyard-Scott and his team now welcoming skaters there.
Wyard-Scott joined the Sherwood Park business in 2010 and later became its owner.
The shop’s history includes longstanding connections with local minor hockey associations and the Kings Athletic Club.
At the Strathmoor Drive shop, services include skate sharpening and profiling, repairs, fitting and equipment cleaning.
The business also carries skating essentials such as laces, tape and replacement steel.
Profiling is available at the main shop only, according to its website.
For hockey families and anyone returning to the ice, the two locations offer local options for skate care.

Just want to confirm the hours before I make the trip. Gonna call that number first.
We switched to Bladz a couple seasons ago and never looked back. Way better than driving into the city.
Never knew they were connected to the Kings Athletic Club. Cool little piece of local history.
Wish they were open later on weeknights. Hard to get there with work and the kids schedule.
Good to know they have two locations now. The Oak Street one is way more convenient for us after practice.
Ty is awesome, he really knows his stuff. Been going to him since he started there.
Do they do profiling for goalie skates or just player skates? Asking for my kid.
Tom's Spot was such a staple. Glad someone is keeping it going at the arena.
Love Bladz, been going there for years with my kids. Great to see they picked up Tom's spot too.
